Old-Fashioned Chocolate Chip Cookies

A simple, reliable family cookie made with coconut sugar and plenty of dark chocolate chips.

There is nothing that beats the best. We have so much fun making these as a family, and it is a joy that the recipe is simple enough for children to help with—and always delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick salted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 cups coconut sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 heaping teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2–2 cups chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine butter, coconut sugar, and vanilla.
  3. Add the eggs and mix thoroughly.
  4. Mix in baking soda and sea salt.
  5. Slowly add the flour.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and mix until the dough is smooth.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, checking on the early side since every oven is different.
